Georgia Tarheel Sports is a non-profit athletic organization designed to provide young athletes (ages 8-17) with a forum to develop and display their athletic skills and talents. The league is structured around and emphasizes the importance of continuing education, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Another very valuable asset to the positive interaction that the organization continually has with local school, neighborhoods, city management and the business community.

Big games for Jon Richt, Crowell

Jon Richt, the son of UGA coach Mark Richt, threw three touchdown passes to lead Mars HIll to a 37-31 road win over Wingate Saturday.

The younger Richt completed 24 of 39 passes for 268 yards, with one interception, for the Division II school, which is located in North Carolina.

Richt is 88 of 178 passing this season, for 1400 yards. He’s thrown 15 TD passes and 10 interceptions while leading the Lions to a 4-2 record. He played high school football at Prince Avenue Christian in Athens.

Meanwhile, former Bulldog tailback Isaiah Crowell ran for 149 yards on 17 carries as Alabama State routed Texas Southern 45-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.

Crowell had two touchdowns, one a 63-yard run midway through the second quarter.

Crowell has 522 yards on 84 carries this season, with eight touchdowns.

Tough Players

Some players mistakenly think that they lack 'toughness' if they get so tired that it forces their coach to take them out of the game for a breather. The fact of the matter is if this never happens to you it’s likely that you aren’t working hard enough. Tough players give it all they’ve got on the floor. They work so hard that they hit points of almost complete exhaustion. Don’t hold anything back.
